I know many of you are eager to hear more about my next project, ShadowRise, so let’s dive into what you can expect from this upcoming addition to the Operation Rose Thorn series!
First off, this novel picks up immediately after the events of FireShade, so if you’re fresh off the first book, there’s nothing to catch up on. You can dive straight into the chaos of ShadowRise and continue where we left off. No filler, just straight back into the action!
ShadowRise is still in its early development stages, but I’ve got a solid understanding of where it’s headed. One thing I can confirm? This is shaping up to be my biggest project yet, clocking in at around 500 pages. This is going to blow past anything I’ve written before, both in scale and intensity.
And speaking of intensity, brace yourselves for more main character deaths than you’d probably expect. If you thought The Crimson Winter was heavy, ShadowRise is about to make it look chummy in comparison. The stakes are higher, the losses are greater, and the emotional toll is going to hit hard.
In this novel, I’ll be diving deeper into the worlds of the Volkov Syndicate and the FBI. And yes, I can already tell you the death count will leave FireShade in the dust. One chapter I’m particularly excited about is titled "The Massacre," which will easily be the most gory chapter in the entire series. It’s going to push the envelope in ways I’m already losing sleep over.
On top of that, you’ll be meeting new characters, including the Russian operative Mysh Balakin. His name means "Talkative Mouse," but don’t let that fool you. Mysh is the Volkov Syndicate’s lawyer, but he also keeps everyone in line psychologically. Over the course of the novel, he becomes more talkative, revealing dangerous secrets. And when his anger finally explodes—it’s going to be a spectacle.
I’m also introducing Cillian Matthews, the young and ambitious replacement for Marcus Blackwood. He’s stepping into a turbulent situation, and his presence will create even more tension as the plot unfolds.
Between the rise and fall of businesses, Ethan and Nathan’s dynamic, a love triangle, murder, and the return of the child trafficking ring, there’s no shortage of drama. And for those who like a little surprise, let’s just say Ethan might find himself in a relationship this time around…with a dog involved!
Operation RoseThorn gets an entirely new base of operations, while PyreCorp continues to unravel in the wake of the destruction caused in FireShade. But as always, questions remain: are the Russians really who they claim to be? And are there more double agents in the FBI than we realize?
ShadowRise will answer all the lingering questions from the first book, while bringing new twists and revelations that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
So, buckle up—ShadowRise is going to be one wild ride.
